<p>Black bin liners generally cannot be recycled as they are typically coloured with carbon black pigments which prevent the optical sorting systems in recycling centres from working. Black plastic is treated as residue and is landfilled or incinerated. Â </p> <p>If using bin liners for recyclable waste, follow local authority rules and choose clear products, as waste in black bags will typically be landfilled or incinerated along with the bin liner.</p>
