Sustainability

"At Brosch Direct (A trading division of Polyco Healthline Ltd), sustainability is more than a goal - it’s a commitment to shaping a better future. Since launching phAMBITION program in 2022, we’ve embedded sustainability into every aspect of our business, driving meaningful change that benefits both people and the planet.

phAMBITION represents our transformative journey toward a thriving, healthy world, where wellbeing and shared values are at the heart of everything we do.”

- Jack Prichard -
Chief Executive Officer

Our ambitious path to sustainability

For us, it starts with “reduce” - a simple step toward consuming less and creating lasting impact. Together, small changes lead to a lighter footprint.

We challenge our thinking every day to spark meaningful change. With mindful choices and bold questions, we shape a better world.

We believe knowledge is power. By sharing insights, staying curious and using science, we create smarter solutions with lasting impact.

By understanding the full lifecycle of our waste, we stay accountable and adaptable.

Being ‘less bad’ isn’t enough. We aim to restore and improve, seeing the world as a community - not a commodity - and doing our part to rebuild it.

Our commitment in seven steps

phAMBITION is founded on seven core principles, inspired by and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which we pledge to uphold.

CARBON REDUCTION PLAN

Gather data on Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to calculate our carbon footprint and set science-based targets for maximum impact.

WASTE REDUCTION PLAN

Minimise waste at every opportunity across the business and supply chain.

MATERIALS PLAN

Develop packaging and product solutions using recyclable or recycled materials wherever possible to minimise plastic waste and landfill impact.

PEOPLE PLAN

We ensure fair labour standards, equal opportunities and respect for everyone in our business and supply chain, promoting inclusivity and work-life balance.

OUR PLANET PLAN

Identify and act where we can restore habitats or remove litter for a cleaner, healthier planet.

OUR UK PLAN

Ensure we’re operating our head office, logistics and manufacturing sustainably by cutting energy use and waste wherever possible.

SUPPLY CHAIN PLAN

We ensure fair treatment in our supply chain and minimise impacts for sustainability.

Some of our sustainability successes

Product Initiatives

  • Our SafeDon® cuff 1st system dispenses one disposable glove at a time - reducing waste, minimising cross-contamination and improving donning efficiency.
  • We’ve switched from plastic to paper stems on our cotton buds.
  • We produce a select range of industrial gloves made with recycled polyester, nylon and biobased materials, and we will continue to expand this range.
  • Nearly 60% of our industrial polythene bags are made from recycled plastic, and we plan to transition the entire range in the near future.
  • We were the first in the UK to use paper bundle bands for industrial gloves. Currently, 68% of our industrial gloves feature paper packaging saving 32 tonnes of plastic from our packaging.
  • We use 30% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) in our plastic bags, and we’re working closely with our supply partners to increase this wherever possible.

 Packaging Initiatives

 Manufacturing Initiatives

We partner with manufacturers who share our commitment to sustainability, supporting initiatives such as:

  • Increase renewable energy and sustainable biomass to reduce fossil fuel use.
  • Implement sustainable water sourcing, including rainwater harvesting and reuse of treated wastewater.
  • Minimise waste generation.
  • Protect biodiversity by tree planting, conserving biodiversity and other environmental initiatives
  • Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion so everyone feels empowered to thrive.
  • Strengthen communities with projects in education, nutrition and health for lasting wellbeing.

Our Head Office site in Bourne runs on 100% green energy.

  • The installation of solar panels and LED lighting has significantly reduced our electricity consumption.
  • All pallets used are fully recycled instead of being discarded or sent to landfill.
  • Recycling bins have been placed throughout all buildings to encourage waste segregation.

Sustainable initiatives for our employees include:

Electric Vehicle (EV) Transition

  • Ongoing transition to a fully electric fleet for all company vehicles.
  • EV salary sacrifice scheme launched in October 2025, available to all employees.
  • EV charging stations installed at Head Office for use by staff and visitors.

Waste Reduction & Recycling

  • Distribution of reusable water bottles to eliminate single-use plastics.
  • Achieved zero waste to landfill at Bourne Head Office and Distribution Centre.

Community & Wellbeing Initiatives

  • Expanded Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) employee days to support volunteering for charitable and community causes.
  • Centralised wellbeing resource hub accessible via the company intranet.
  • Regular wellbeing and awareness days held throughout the year.
